work
Tag“Nothing to see here. Everything’s fine. Move along.” Turns out my fears for the winter holidays were premature. I guess I will buy presents this year!
False Alarm“Save a spot for me.” There’s talk about reducing my hours at work and scarier rumors of shutting down the entire company for three weeks. Not good during the holidays.
This Thanksgiving, it’s always good to look back and see the good things in your life before time with the family at Christmas depresses you again.
Since this is my professional blog, I made a conscious decision not to blog too much about work since the only reason to write about work on your personal time is just to complain. I submit to you that I’ve let slip a complaint about work here and there, but nothing that I thought was flagrant or would put off a prospective future employer. Recently, however, work has gotten me down — to the point of depressing me — and I just feel the need to get a few things off my chest.
You know, for all my complaints about work, things have actually been pretty interesting lately. It’s nice to know that even though my title is officially Copywriter, I get to do more than just write marketing copy. Most of my opportunities are still writing related, mind you, like working with SQL server to update the Web site’s database or proofreading some technical documents, but at least it breaks up the monotony of the daily rigmarole. Wow, that last post has been up for a while! Heck, I’m getting sick of seeing it there myself. Things have just been a little hectic for me. That and I’ve been allowing myself to be distracted by video games. I think I like them so much because they are instantly gratifying, unlike writing, which [...]
Obligatory PostFor the first time in a long time, I feel pretty good about my life. That’s not to say that I walk around depressed all day, it’s just that I’ve been feeling stagnant. Everything was becoming routine. I’d wake up, go to work, come home, do whatever, then sleep. The worst part of that formula [...]
Forward MotionYeah, I’m a little late. You know, I’m pretty good about following through with the things I say I’ll do. Typically, if I give my word that something will be done, I will even inconvenience myself to make sure I don’t break my word. That’s why I’m so disappointed that I haven’t kept up with [...]
Month in Review: December 2007Just a very, very minor update tonight. If you’re a dedicated reader, you’ll find that I’ve reverted to my old layout. It’s just temporary, turns out my 3-sidebar layout was breaking horribly in IE6 and readers were having to scroll down to get to the post. I’m going to rebuild everything into a newer layout [...]
Two Steps BackJust a quick thought before I crash. You know, I never really saw myself in advertising. I’ve always figured that if I had to do it or if I just found myself in that profession that I’d be able to handle it, but it wasn’t anything that I “looked forward to.” Today, my view has [...]
A Long Day
