La Villa Strangiato, thats exactly what i was thinking! I do like 'gotten', though, maybe my favorite after 4 listenings. I agree dr alibi is a great track, not my favorite but its in the top 5.

Too bad lyricaly and musicaly Doctor Alibi is one of the top songs, keeping it simple with a pure rock riff, and possible one of the best solo sections on the entire album, is generally one of the favourites on the album.

Mainly critisism of another well recieved track, Crucify The Dead, with it's progressive riff and drum track, with an exceptional solo going over the top. Hardly lacks variety if you actually listen to the different segments.

You should also of checked out the iTunes version, with Mother Maria, a personal favourite from the album.

Aweful review.

'Slash' is an album that grows on you with each listening. I agree with the review song for song except for 'Doctor Alibi', which I'd like to think of as Slash giving a nod to Stoke-on-Trent, his and Lemmy's birthplace, and which is otherwise a great no-nonsense rock 'n' roll song.

'Slash' is also proof that, post-GNR, Slash is better off when he's in a position to call all the shots himself, as was the case with the Snakepit outfits. In any case, it's much more exciting than anything he's produced with VR.

Too bad Slash didn't pair up with Dave Mustaine for a song, preferably on acoustic guitar. That would've been awesome.

Brian, it's always a pleasure to read your work. I enjoyed listening to the album as well. There are certain tracks that I wouldn't care to listen to again, but some - like Beautiful Dangerous, Gotten, By the Sword, I Hold On, and Starlight are appealing to me and I would even consider using one or two of those tracks for my future drum lessons ;) Irina

I enjoy your unique angle of vision in your critiques. Very well written. I will read it again as I listen through the album.
