LOST: The Countdown Begins

With one episode left before the finale on Sunday, May 23rd, more than a fair share of LOST fans are gearing themselves up for what’s to be the big time. Sure, everyone’s keeping their composure – a skill that’s taken six years to perfect, what with most viewers being working professionals between the ages of 18 and 45. It is understandable, then, that the events to take place throughout night of the 23rd will elicit the highest tangible high imaginable within viewers (or will dare to come close). But for all the impending excitement, nothing will prepare LOST fans for the morning after. Like the end of any relationship, some might experience a complete loss of sense. Don’t be surprised if anyone close to you gets sick, forgets to shower, or finds themselves dealing with some sort of stress/anxiety rash – it will all prove to be a natural part of the healing process. Ah yes, there’s nothing quite like withdrawal. Any good therapist would suggest that one gets in their eight hours’ sleep, eat three squares, and perhaps talk it out – as for us, we suggest you deal with it when you get there.

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re part of the choir being preached to. However, we realize there are many variations of fan on the LOST spectrum. Not everyone is in the know regarding the whats and the wheres during these last days of LOST, so we’ve compiled a little referential check-list:

  • Show hours remaining: 3.5
  • Special Events: Time Talks Live, a live Q&A from NY and in select theaters in the US and Canada, Thursday, May 20th with executive producer Carlton Cuse and co-creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof (check out movietickets.com to see if a local theater near you will be equipped to indulge)
  • Day of Show (tune in to ABC)
7:00-9:00 pm: a recap of the entire series
    9:00 – 11:30 pm: THE FINALE
11:30 pm – 12:30 am: Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to LOST, which will include the cast, creators, producers, and three alternative series enders

Shaking and crying much?

The aforementioned is a more of a reminder and not an additional more-to-do list, as we primarily hope to set the moderate LOST fan in a prime position and get the most out of the evening. That said, it’s highly possible we’re leaving out something, which is where you come in. If so inclined, please feel free to mention your favorite sources for commentary, discussion boards, or perhaps where you will be spending the final hours of this exceptional series in the comments section below. Got a favorite pillow you’ll be sitting on? Serving any LOST-themed snacks/drinks? Will you be with friends or locked up alone, screening your calls throughout the night? Favorite brand of tissue? Try us; we’re all ears.
